Frequently Asked Questions
This page contains answers to common questions as well as additional support resources to help you get started with the innovative SHO Guide software. Additional questions can be addressed to support@transcensus.com
Will SHO Guide work with any software application?
SHO Guide has been optimized to interact with a variety of interface types, including browser-based interfaces, Microsoft .NET interfaces, Dynamics CRM and related Outlook toolbar, and many Microsoft Office functions. While many applications share common object structures and interface attributes, a wide variety of development standards and object types can be employed in software interfaces. Therefore, we cannot necessarily guarantee 100% compatibility with all applications with the default SHO Guide configuration.
However, SHO Guide is a very adaptable technology that can be optimized for virtually any specialized graphical user interface type with a relatively minimal development investment, and without requiring a recompile of the SHO Guide software. We can quickly analyze compatibility with your application and then provide plug-ins that will ensure proper and consistent script execution on your specialized application.
How does one gain access to SHO scripts once published?
Published SHO scripts can be delivered in a variety of ways, including through a web server or network server. You can create links or buttons on a webpage, software help resource, learning portal or even the interface of your software product. Unlike streaming video content, published SHO scripts are extremely compact and efficient resources with a very minimal footprint.
Can I employ video and other resources that I have developed into my SHO scripting?
Absolutely. You can link to video content that you may have created using another authoring tool as well as published documents or web pages.
How difficult is it to learn how to produce effective SHO scripts?
The learning curve is relatively minimal. Once you understand basic concepts, SHO scripts are easy to produce and edit—much simpler in fact than producing videos—and much more effective in their ability to help someone complete software-related job tasks. SHO Guide is not difficult—it’s just different than what you may be accustomed to because of the sophisticated manner in which it interacts with the actual software application.
How do I gain access to software updates?
SHO Guide and SHO Player are both web-enabled applications, meaning that updates are made available for download directly over the Web. You can check for SHO Guide updates from the Tools menu in the user interface. SHO Player automatically notifies you of any available updates.
What kind of training is available for SHO Guide?
Transcensus offers video-based quick start training to help you get started with SHO Guide, but we strongly recommend our immersive, two-day course to help you understand all aspects of the product and lay the foundation for effective script design and development. Additional one-on-one mentoring sessions are also available as needed to augment our training courses.
May I use any internet browser?
Not all web browsers are able to render (represent; depict, as in displaying a picture or words on a computer screen) all HTML characters. Web browsers support a combination of standards- and defacto-based HTML and XHTML, which attempt to display the same way across all browsers. No browser fully supports HTML 4.01, XHTML 1.x or CSS 2.1 yet. SHO Guide builds the entity map based on the way the particular browser renders the components. That’s why Internet Explorer is the initial supported browser platform.
