Running a SHO Script

There are a variety of ways to launch a SHO script.  The method(s) you use to launch scripts will depend on the way your organization chooses to deploy SHO content and may include one or more of the following:

  • Double-clicking on a .SHO file stored on your computer or a network server.
  • Clicking on a link to a .SHO file on a website or software help interface.
  • Clicking on a help or “show me” button or image on a web page or software application interface.

When you launch a SHO script, the SHO Player application loads automatically and remains loaded until the script has been completed or you exit the script.  When the script ends, SHO Player is unloaded automatically.

Pausing a Script

You can pause a script by clicking the Pause button on the SHO Player control bar or by pressing the Pause/Break key on your keyboard.  When you pause a script, the most recent step balloon will continue to display, but the script temporarily stops blocking or filtering interface objects, allowing you full control over your computer and any applications you are currently running.  To resume script playback, click the Play button.

Note: If you close the application the script is interacting with, open or close dialog boxes or make other substantial changes to the state of the application while the SHO script is paused, the script may not be able to perform subsequent steps when you resume playback.

Exiting a Script

You can exit a script at any time by pressing the Stop button on the SHO Player control bar or by pressing the Esc key on your keyboard.  Once the script is stopped, all interface filtering or blocking is removed to allow you full control over the applications you are currently running, and the SHO Player application unloads.
